Terrence Malick’s “The Last Planet” wrapped production in Rome back in mid-2019, it still hasn’t been released, and if it weren’t for the fact Malick is known for his lengthy post-production rituals, then you’d think something was very wrong with the film.

This is a shot of Paul Schrader on the set of “The Master Gardener.” The film is set for a six-week shoot. This comes after his last two critically-acclaimed films, “First Reformed,” and “The Card Counter.”

One thing the BAFTA nominations proved to us this morning is that absolutely nobody is safe this Oscar season. What an astounding bunch of snubs, surprises and revelations.

I will not be going to the South by Southwest Film Festival this year, but will be covering it remotely. It does look as though the Austin-based Festival has managed to snag some of the films that were afraid of going virtual at Sundance.

We reported last month that ‘Furiosa’ is set to start filming in mid-March and wrap in June. That meant a lengthy 3.5 month shoot for the film.

Yes, the Sundance Film Festival had a weak lineup of films this year, but can you blame them for not coming up with something better? The pandemic delayed, and even shut down, numerous indie productions these last 20 months, to the point where programmers for the fest had to look extra hard for quality filmmaking.

Speaking with Arnold Schwarzenegger, as part of the Austrian World Summit discussing climate change and politics, James Cameron confirmed that filming has been completed on “Avatar 2,” and all but done on “Avatar 3: “We’re 100 percent complete on ‘Avatar 2’ and we’re sort of 95 percent complete on ‘Avatar 3,’” he explained.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” finished atop the domestic box-office this weekend, with an $11 million intake. This puts its staggering total to $736 million.

Jared Leto just received a Razzie nomination for his performance in “House of Gucci.” Just a few weeks ago, Leto was awarded a SAG nomination for this very performance, in the Supporting Actor category. That means he could very well get an Oscar nomination to go along with his Razzie recognition.

After describing this last (virtual) edition of Sundance as, quite possibly, the worst I’ve ever experienced, I got an email from one Jared yesterday asking what was the best Sundance I’ve ever attended.
