Inde Navarrette has booked another major role following her casting in Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ reboot.
According to THR, the “Obsession” actress has joined Apple’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “The Waffle House Index,” marking her second major casting of the summer.
The title comes from an informal way people in the South measure how bad a hurricane is by checking whether Waffle House restaurants are still open. Green means the restaurant is fully open, yellow means it has a limited menu, and red means it has closed because the storm is extremely serious.
However, according to the report, the movie involves much more than just a hurricane. The script includes a gunman, major flooding, killer crocodiles, a nuclear explosion, aliens, and a secret magical bunker under the Waffle House where Navarrette’s character works as a waitress.
Louis Paxton is directing Andrew Nunnelly’s script for Apple and Plan B. Who is Paxton? He doesn't have a Wikipedia page. His IMDb cites “The Incomer,” which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, to decent reviews, as his feature directorial debut.
“The Waffle House Index” is expected to enter production with a theatrical release potentially in late 2027 or around the spring 2028 release of ‘X-Men,’ with further casting still to come.
What’s clear is that Hollywood is already rushing to capitalize on Navarrette’s post-Obsession popularity. Whether she proves to be the real deal remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: we’ll be seeing a lot more of her over the next few years.
