Terrence Malick’s ‘The Way of the Wind’ Will Not Be Ready For Cannes?

February 4, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Terrence Malick’s “The Last Planet” wrapped production in Rome back in mid-2019, it still hasn’t been released, and if it weren’t for the fact Malick is known for his lengthy post-production rituals, then you’d think something was very wrong with the film.

No, Malick is just taking his sweet, sweet time, trying to find the perfect mood and mold for his latest creation. The above photo is a snapshot of the latest update on Malick’s film. As you can see we might have to wait a little longer to finally watch “The Last Planet,” but I’m not throwing the towel either on it being released sometime this year.

I had reported in late December that Malick and Cannes boss Thierry Fremaux were engaged in serious discussions to finally have “The Last Planet” premiere on the Croisette this coming May. This latest update is a discouraging one.

“The Way of the Wind” will reportedly convey passages “in the life of Christ” through representing evangelical parables. The First Image from Terrence Malick's Biblical-Drama was released two years ago. The cast includes the likes of Matthias Schoenaerts (as Saint Peter), Géza Röhrig (as Jesus), Ben Kingsley, Joseph Fiennes, and Mark Rylance (as Satan).
