Florence Pugh Eyed to Play Rapunzel in Disney’s Live-Action ‘Tangled’

August 11, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

According to Daniel Richtman, Disney is eyeing Florence Pugh to play Rapunzel in their live-action version of “Tangled.” Last week, we had reported that the film was officially in development over at the mouse house.

I wouldn’t put much stake in this rumor given that Pugh seems like a smart actress who wouldn’t want to go deep into the Disney machine, despite what will be a very lucrative paycheck offered her way.

Pugh has basically had four well-reviewed performances since her career jump-started around 7 years ago: “Lady Macbeth,” “Midsommar,” “Little Women” and “The Wonder.” She’s shown great promise, and her willingness to star in a Marvel movie — “Black Widow” — seems to have been a one-off (at least I hope).
