More bad news for Amazon/MGM’s $200 million–costing “Masters of the Universe,” which has already had a tough time building buzz ahead of its June 5 release.
“Scary Movie 6,” which had its first trailer go viral yesterday, has moved up its release date from June 12 to — you guessed it — June 5. Yes, Paramount is so confident in what they have that they’ve decided to position their movie against another big movie, albeit one that seems to be in a lot of trouble.
“Scary Movie 6” will most likely take #1 at the box office that weekend, and I don’t believe it will even be a close contest. Meanwhile, who knows what fate awaits “Masters of the Universe,” but it’s certainly in a lot of trouble, and its latest trailer, released a few weeks ago, only confirmed our suspicions.
Who’da thunk it? Amazon/MGM’s decision to greenlight a freaking He-Man movie, reportedly spending around $200 million to produce it, might epically backfire on them. If opening weekend word of mouth isn’t strong, this could quickly turn into one of the year’s most painful misfires.
