For Spider-Man fans, the wait has been excruciating. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have kept the fanbase on the edge of their seats, waiting for the first official trailer of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” to show up.
Sure, the movie isn’t hitting theaters until July 31, but there hasn’t even been a tease. No stills. No plot details. Nada. Zilch.
Instead, Marvel kicked off promotion with “Avengers: Doomsday,” set for December 18. Once the four Doomsday teasers wrapped, everyone figured Holland’s fourth solo movie would be next in line. But nope. No trailer dropped during the Super Bowl.
What’s interesting is that the marketing for ‘Brand New Day’ is already trailing way behind the first three Holland movies. With all the chatter and speculation, now seems like the perfect time for Sony and Marvel to unleash that trailer and really get this thing going.
So, I did a little digging and reached out to a source at Sony Pictures. Their reply? “Any day now.” If I had to bet, we’ll get it sometime next week. The trailer will also be shown before screenings of “Project Hail Mary,” which officially begin on March 20.
Returning to the role, Holland once again suits up as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is in there somewhere as well. The film marks the first ‘Spider-Man’ outing directed by ‘Shang-Chi’ helmer Destin Daniel Cretton. Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Michael Mando, and J.K. Simmons are set to reprise their roles, while Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) and Tramell Tillman (“Severance”) are the new additions.
‘Brand New Day’ follows on the massive success of ‘No Way Home,’ which raked in over $1.9 billion at the global box office in 2021. I’d be shocked if this latest Spidey doesn’t crack the billion dollar mark as well.
