With a resume that includes “Hunger,” “Shame,” “12 Years A Slave,” and “Lovers Rock” (all excellent) it’s always exciting to find out what former-visual-artist-turned-director Steven McQueen will do next.

Coming off a certain peanut-shaped man trying to, in failing fashion, put his pretentious finger to the pulse of this whole Sight and Sound debacle, here comes another critic calling out Paul Schrader’s S&S criticism as “white supremacy!”

I tried hard to give Inarritu’s “Bardo” a fair shot. I stuck with it for its entire 150 minutes, but the “wisdom” this fiom seems to be conveying is pure claptrap.

With Kohn/Thompson and, now, Variety’s Clayton Davis hopping onboard the “Banshees of Inisherin” frontrunner train, I can see a changing of the guarding maybe occurring in the next few weeks.

With all the drama surrounding Sight and Sound’s critics poll, the Directors’ Poll has now emerged as the go-to for comprehensive film history.

Major props to Paul Schrader for calling it like it is. I do think the Sight and Poll results will wake more than a few people up about what is actually going on: a total reinterpretation of film history.

We’re all wondering when in 2023 David Fincher’s “The Killer” will be released. The truth is, nobody really knows what’s going on with “The Killer”, not even Netflix. They’re just letting Fincher take his time ..

The New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) announces its winners this morning. What do you think they’ll go with? I believe the Best Picture prize will be between “TÁR,” “Aftersun” and “The Banshees of Inisherin.”

Sight and Sound gave us a nice little peek at Martin Scorsese’s ballot. It’s as strong as one might suspect it to be. A wonderful collage of established cinematic powerhouses.

The trailer for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (terrible title) has been released. This is set to be Harrison Ford’s final film as Indy and also the last movie scored by John Williams.

Today is the day. At around 1pm ET we’ll be getting the results of the once-in-a-decade Sight and Sound Poll, which has now gone from having 800 voters to more than 1600 (many, no doubt, aiming for social equity with their picks). God have mercy on us all.

I’ve been doing some sniffing around this morning, after reading a tweet claiming that Paul Thomas Anderson’s next project will be sci-fi movie.
