I’ve been doing some sniffing around this morning, after reading a tweet claiming that Paul Thomas Anderson’s next project will be sci-fi movie.
Late last year, PTA had revealed to a WGA audience that he had been working on another film before hopping onboard “Licorice Pizza” in late 2020. No further details had been revealed.
It could have very well been his long-gestating 1940’s Harlem Renaissance film, that he’s been working on since 2018, or this rumored science fiction film. Fact of the matter is that we just don’t know and the people I’ve emailed have no clue either.
PTA has his tightly-knit group of close collaborators and they’re all staying mum about it. What we do know is that a new film from one of the great living filmmakers is coming and that’s reason enough to celebrate.
