The trailer for Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” has now been rated, signaling that a first look will likely arrive next week alongside a potential announcement of the film’s release window via Searchlight Pictures.
“Behemoth!” is described as a character-driven, formally ambitious 15-year chronicle centered on Alex Serian, a gifted but emotionally distant cellist — played by Pedro Pascal — who returns to Los Angeles and attempts to reinvent himself as a film composer. Told through a nonlinear, music-driven structure, the film uses musical cues to trigger memories from the past two decades.
Gilroy actually brought in seven composers for the project, including James Newton Howard and Alan Silvestri. Furthermore, the film has test screened, a few times, and is being seen as a potential awards contender, with an October/November release reportedly being considered.
Alongside Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Will Arnett, and Matthew Lillard also star. The film marks Gilroy’s first feature since “The Bourne Legacy” in 2012 and follows his acclaimed work on Disney+’s “Andor.” His most notable film credits include “Michael Clayton,” and “Duplicity.” Before stepping behind the camera, Gilroy was a go-to screenwriter in Hollywood, having penned the likes of “Dolores Clairborne” and “The Bourne Identity.”
