Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ Might Drop First Trailer Next Week

April 9, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Word is spreading fast that Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ has a trailer ready to release next week. If that’s the case, then I assume it’ll first debut during Sony’s CinemaCon panel on April 13 and drip online not too long after that.

Sony paid Cregger $20M to helm this reboot, and since he’s also coming off the success of ‘Weapons,’ they thought it was a good idea to give him full and total control to do whatever the hell he wanted with the IP. This has somewhat angered ‘Resident Evil’ diehards who fear Cregger will not follow game lore.

Last week, I posted glowing test reactions to the film, which stars Austin Abrams and is set for a September 18, 2026 release. The runtime is 90 minutes, and it’s apparently all gas, no brakes.
