Woody has been found! Just a few days ago, Spanish media reported that Woody Allen and his team had gone largely silent, with financiers of his next Spain-set film struggling to get any confirmation about the project’s status or even basic communication from the production side.
Now there’s an update: Allen is back in touch with producers and is reportedly telling them that filming is set to begin on October 5 in Madrid. The project still has no official title and no confirmed cast, though the earlier working title WASP26 (Woody Allen Spring Project 2026) may need to be revised—perhaps WAFSP26 is in order?
Allen had secured several million euros in funding from the city of Madrid, with the understanding that the film would be shot there and that “Madrid” would appear in the title as part of the agreement. With production now apparently pushed to the fall, it remains unclear how strictly those original terms will be followed. There’s also continued speculation about casting, including whether longtime supporters like Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem might appear, which would certainly raise the project’s profile.
