Adria Arjona Cast in James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ in Mystery Role — Wonder Woman?

April 14, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Hey, look at that — a week after James Gunn threw a fit online over a report that involved Adria Arjona being one of the actresses testing for a role in the next Superman, guess what? Adria Arjona is now confirmed to be in the next Superman. Go figure.

Yes, Arjona has landed the mysterious role in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Man of Tomorrow.” After testing for the part, she beat out a handful of actresses, and will now be joining the cast for production in Atlanta.

Now, who Arjona is playing seems to be a well-kept secret. Last week, a Deadline source claimed it was Maxima, but that might have just been misdirection. THR and The Wrap are now pushing back, saying “it’s unknown” what role Arjona is playing.

Persistent fan-casting would have Arjona playing Wonder Woman, which is being fast-tracked by Gunn’s DCU. She’d be perfect for the role. Gunn recently followed Arjona on Instagram, which kick-started rumors that she might be the next Wonder Woman, but Gunn pushed back, admitting she’d be “great” for the role while noting that fans were perhaps reading too much into his “follow.”

This comes after Gal Gadot’s run as Wonder Woman, which spanned two films under director Patty Jenkins. Plans for a Gad-led threequel got axed when Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins to reshape the DCU.

Either way, Arjona is clearly on a career upswing, riding high off “Hit Man,” “Andor,” “Splitsville,” and Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ remake.

The cast for “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” is led by David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, who play Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively. The villain, Brainiac, will be played by Lars Eidinger. Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, and Sara Sampaio are also expected to reprise their respective roles as Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Eve Teschmacher. Aaron Pierre will play John Stewart/Green Lantern in HBO’s upcoming “Lanterns.”

“Superman,” released last summer, grossed over $618M worldwide. Gunn is back as writer-director. The film is set for release on July 9, 2027.
