John Travolta Potentially Cast in Tarantino’s ‘The Movie Critic’

September 18, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Quentin Tarantino already has a role for Samuel L. Jackson in “The Movie Critic,” and now we can potentially add another “Pulp Fiction” actor to the cast of his “final” film.

According to Jeff Sneider, none other than John Travolta is being eyed by Tarantino for a part in “The Movie Critic.” I believe Sneider, he’s usually, more times than not, spot-on with his intel.

Sneider also says the whole film has already been cast, but nothing has been made official yet because of the strike. So, we’ll have to wait, hopefully, just a few more months before the press release gets released.

This means that Jackson, Travolta and Bruce Willis are being rumoured for the film. If you remember, there was a report that Tarantino wanted Willis to have a cameo in his film, despite the actor’s advanced illness.

This feels like a last hurrah for Tarantino, an ensemble cast that goes back to the film that turned him into a counter-culture icon in the ‘90s. Sneider is even hinting at another “Pulp Fiction” actor being a part of “The Movie Critic,” but that one can be anybody’s guess — Uma? Ving? Walken?

A few weeks ago, it had been reported that Paul Walter Hauser had received an offer for the lead role in “The Movie Critic,” pre-strike. Hauser, a talented actor, would actually be a good fit as film critic Jim Sheldon of porno rag “The Popstar Pages”.

Tarantino has described the character as “Travis Bickle if he were a film critic”. So, a loner, isolated individual, who happens to review movies for an underground magazine.

The film, which is set in 1977, was aiming to shoot this fall in Los Angeles, but the strike has halted its momentum.
