‘65’ Reviews Are Bad

March 10, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Not even two weeks ago, Sony had test-screened “65” in the West Coast. Here’s the kicker: two versions of the movie, in two auditoriums, were being shown simultaneously.

Whichever cut ended up being released theatrically, we’ll never know, but reviews for the Adam Driver- starring action movie are not good.

It currently has a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes and 41 on Metacritic. It’s all but dead at the box-office too. Its Thursday previews did not do well at all. The budget is listed as being around $91 million. Yikes.

There are very few “65” reviews out there. All Rotten Tomatoes could muster up is 29 of themS I wasn’t invited to any press screenings, they were said to have been very limited, mostly just for New York and Los Angeles trades.

“65” seems to be going the B-movie route. Driver fighting dinosaurs is an easy sell for me — of course, I’m semi-interested! It looks cheesy. It looks ridiculous. Just be happy we have a dinosaur movie that doesn’t star Chris Pratt.

The film was shot in 2020 and was originally test-screened in 2021. Reactions were all over the place at the time, some liked it and many hated it.

The film was written, directed, and produced by “A Quiet Place” screenwriters Scott Beck & Bryan Woods and produced by Sam Raimi.
