It’s very hard to decipher the general reaction for “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.” Only three major media have weighed in: IndieWire is a rave, Variety positive with reservations and Deadline pans it.

UPDATED: “She Said” screened at NYFF. The embargo has lifted. Reactions are all over the place. I believe this film’s best shot will probably be a Carey Mulligan push for Supporting Actress.

Much like “Titane” last year, the release of Ruben Ostlund’s Palme d’Or winning “Triangle of Sadness” has resulted in polarized reactions. There’s no critical acclaim, but a lot of love it/ hate it reactions going on.

By all accounts, these films have been, more or less, completed, but were curiously absent from the September festivals.

UPDATE: The embargo has lifted and “Halloween Ends” has a 45 MC score (based on 22 reviews). I probably won’t be reviewing this pile of junk.

Olivier Assayas released his rather impressive “Irma Vep” series a few months ago. It’s well worth checking out. Before that, his last two films (“Non-Fiction” and “Wasp Network”) were critical disappointments. So, why not go back to the source of your success?

Now things seems to be really be ramping up as November 5th seems to be the month when production kicks off. Will this be a snowy-set sequel?
