“Where’d You Go, Bernadette” Trailer: Cate Blanchett Stars In Director Richard Linklater’s Latest Film

December 18, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

Based on Maria Semple’s novel of the same name, which spent a year on The New York Times Bestseller List, Director Richard Linklater's “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” finally has a trailer, and, by the looks of it, the film will be both comic and dramatic.

The plot, told in flashbacks, has Bee, Bernadette’s daughter, trying to put together the missing clues in the grand puzzle of what happened to her mother Bernadette.

Linklater is one of the great American directors of the 21st century, just look at his filmography “Dazed and Confused,”  "Boyhood,"“School of Rock,” "Waking Life," and, of course, his trilogy composed of "Before Sunrise," "Before Sunset" and "Before Midnight." However, for all the hoopla those movies bring, people tend to discount the under-the-radar Linklater's like "Bernie," "Tape," "Me and Orson Welles," and "Everybody Wants Some!!"

We haven't heard from Linklater since 2016 which is when he released "Last Flag Flying," a mild-mannered but likable road trip film about three Vietnam war veterans (as played by Steve Carrel, Laurence Fishburne and Bryan Cranston).

Starring in the lead role as Bernadette will be Cate Blanchett, alongside Billy Crudup as Bernadette's husband. Completing the cast are Kristin Wiig, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne, and newcomer Emma Nelson as Bernadette’s daughter Bee.

“Where’d You Go, Bernadette” will be released on March 22, 2019.
