M. Night Shyamalan to Direct Two New Thrillers for Universal

September 16, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

I am not in the least bit surprised by today’s news that Universal has decided to contract M. Night Shyamalan for two new untitled thrillers that will be released in 2021 and 2023, respectively. There’s no word on what the plot of the films might be. However, I am hopeful that this second chance comeback from the writer-director will yield some fruitful results and return him to the glory days of his first two films … or things could get out-of-hand again and Shyamalan’s cinematic ego could result in Lady in the Water 2.0.

San Sebastian Film Festival Boss Is Thrilled That Woody Allen Has Set His New Movie There

June 5, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

It’s been a tumultuous last 20 or so months for Woody Allen, what with American distributors all but blacklisting the legendary writer-director, all due to dubious, already twice settled-in-court, claims, made by his ex-wife Mia Farrow, which resulted in the director’s “A Rainy Day in New York” being shelved by Amazon and never released in U.S. theaters. With all that being said, Allen has gotten back the rights to the film, which is set to premiere, according to my sources, at the Venice Film Festival next September and will then roll out in most of the major European movie markets.

Christopher Nolan's Mysterious New Movie Said To Be Globe Spanning Sci-Fi About Time Continuum; ‘North By Northwest' Meets ‘Inception'?

April 6, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

There have been many rumors as to what Christopher Nolan’s next film, set to be released in 2020, would be about, with many rumors having been debunked already. People have been shooting these rumors left and right and, hoping one of them sticks, and yet, we still don’t what the damn thing is about. All we know is that the screenplay is so secretive that its star, Robert Pattinson, had to be locked up in a room to read the damn thing. He couldn’t bring a physical copy home.

Christopher Nolan's Mysterious New Movie Casts John David Washington; Described As ‘Massive, Innovative, Action blockbuster'

March 19, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

What do we know about Christopher Nolan’s upcoming new movie? Well, not much really. We know that it is set to be released in July of 2020, that the script has been written and production is slated to commence later this year and that, today, “BlackKklansman” star John David Washington was cast in the lead role. The last bit of news was confirmed by Variety’s Justin Kroll who also mentioned that “one insider described the pic as a massive, innovative, action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax.”

I just wrote this on Facebook:

I was a fan of BlackKklansman, but Washington, Denzel's son, didn't particularly strike me as being an out-of-this-world talent that merited a leading role in a Christopher Nolan movie. Then again, you don't really need to "act" in a Nolan movie as much as just be a part of the narrative gimmick that he sets up for his actors. Don't get me wrong, I do love many of his movies, but they are not what you might call "acting showcases.”
