Yes, Marvel has decided it’s finally time to unveil the trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday.” This $400M-costing monster of a movie could be a make-or-break moment for the MCU—but who are we kidding? It’s going to make money. With a budget reportedly approaching $400M, the break-even point is likely around $1 billion, and most are still predicting it will reach that mark.
To put that into perspective, “Avengers: Endgame” cost $356M to make. “Doomsday” already has $105M in publicly reported costs: $40M for the Russo brothers, $50M for Robert Downey Jr., and $15M for Chris Hemsworth. With the avalanche of names reportedly attached to the project, I’d be shocked if the final budget comes in under $400M.

A recent THR report said “Doomsday” is being targeted for a 2-hour, 45-minute runtime, which would make it the second-longest Marvel Studios film behind “Avengers: Endgame” (3 hours, 1 minute). However, the report stressed that the runtime is not final, as the film remains in post-production, with editing and possible refinements continuing before release. And there have certainly been complications regarding the molding of the film in the editing room.
Directed by the Russo brothers, “Avengers: Doomsday” is expected to unite a massive ensemble spanning the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom, requiring significant screen time to balance multiple storylines and characters. That could be why editing has been such a headache.
