A recent THR report said “Doomsday” is being targeted for a 2-hour, 45-minute runtime, which would make it the second-longest Marvel Studios film behind “Avengers: Endgame” (3 hours, 1 minute). However, the report stressed that the runtime is not final, as the film remains in post-production, with editing and possible refinements continuing before release. And there have certainly been complications regarding the molding of the film in the editing room.
Directed by the Russo brothers, “Avengers: Doomsday” is expected to unite a massive ensemble spanning the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom, requiring significant screen time to balance multiple storylines and characters. That could be why editing has been such a headache.
