Tom Cruise continues to be Tom Cruise, this time by surprising AMC staff with an after-hours IMAX screening of The Odyssey. According to one employee who attended the showing, Cruise repeatedly praised the film, exclaiming, “That was so fucking sick!” throughout.
What would you rather choose: watch Nolan’s latest for the first time with Cruise sitting behind you, talking throughout the film, and repeatedly saying, “That was so fucking sick!”, or experience it at your local IMAX with a spellbound audience?
The screening took place after Cruise reportedly arrived too late for an earlier showing and instead invited AMC employees to join him for a private screening. One staff member later shared the experience on X, describing Cruise as “just a guy who really loves movies like the rest of us.”
When he found out we hadn’t seen it, he insisted we join him. Got to geek out with him about Dune after the prologue. Unreal stuff. He really really cares and was so down to earth. Lovely man.
When asked what Cruise thought of The Odyssey, the employee replied:
Absolutely loved it. He was clapping with us all through the third act. He just kept uttering the phrase, ‘That was so fucking sick!’ the whole time. He was sitting right behind us throwing little comments and jokes our way. Made an epic movie even better!
Cruise later took to social media to thank Christopher Nolan, his wife and producing partner Emma Thomas, and the entire cast and crew:
Wow! To Chris, Emma, and ALL of your brilliant cast and crew: thank you for an amazing night at the movie theater. I can’t wait to see it again!
He shared the message alongside a photo of himself holding a movie ticket outside the film’s IMAX 70mm screening. It wasn’t exactly a detailed review from Cruise, but none was needed—we already knew he thought it was “f*cking sick.”
At the top, it's John Malkovich's to lose. He is a lock for Martin McDonagh's "Wild Horse Nine.” This would be his first lead nod. A late-career Malkovich comeback in a McDonagh movie? I'm all for it.
