TIFF 2026 Lineup: Peter Farrelly’s ‘I Play Rocky,’ Chris Rock’s ‘Misty Green,’ and Anton Corbijn’s ‘A Talent for Murder’ to World Premiere

I’ll update this page in the coming minutes, but here’s what I’ve gathered so far from today’s announcement.

Fall film festival season is almost here, and we’re about to be treated to a wave of new films, many loaded with potential, as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival are all set to announce their lineups this week.

Peter Farrelly’s “I Play Rocky,” Anton Corbijn’s “A Talent for Murder,” and Chris Rock’s “Misty Green” are among the biggest world premieres at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF organizers announced Monday.

The festival unveiled more than 60 titles across its Gala and Special Presentations programs.

Based on TIFF’s premiere designations, we also have a better idea of what could be headed to Venice and Telluride. As far as Venice goes, these TIFF Canadian and North American premieres appear likely to have their world premieres on the Lido:

As for Telluride, the likeliest candidates include:

• “The Debut” | Jesse Eisenberg

• “Elsinore” | Simon Stone

• “Alpha Gang” | David Zellner and Nathan Zellner

• “Tender Loving Care” | Mike Leigh

• “Ink” | Danny Boyle

• “A Long Winter” | Andrew Haigh

• “Everest: The Other Side” | Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi

Keep an eye on those Telluride titles. The festival’s director, Julie Huntsinger, is famously discerning in her selections and has a remarkable knack for picking the best of the best among the fall festival crop.

The biggest TIFF omissions from this morning’s announcement are Martin McDonagh’s “Wild Horse Nine,” Werner Herzog’s “Bucking Fastard,” Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!,” Tom McCarthy’s “The Statement,” Lance Oppenheim’s “Primetime,” and Aaron Sorkin’s “The Social Reckoning” — many of these could possibly bow at Venice and/or Telluride (although Sorkin doesn't appear to be ready). Maybe Brad Bird’s “Ray Gunn” or Travis Knight’s “Wildwood” could be late additions to TIFF.

The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival runs Sept. 10–20. Additional programming will be announced over the next three weeks.
