Amazon/MGM had originally announced a wide theatrical release for “How to Rob A Bank” over Labor Day weekend, with a premiere date set for September 4, 2026. That’s been scrapped.
“How to Rob A Bank” has been delayed by more than two months to November 13, 2026. Last I heard, the latest cut that was tested did not look 100% ready, so perhaps the delay has something to do with that.
The film follows a group of bank robbers, led by Nicholas Hoult’s alpha-male character, who call themselves The Wolf Pack. They use social media to document their heists while playing a cat-and-mouse game with a detective portrayed by John C. Reilly and assisted by a technologically gifted criminal played by Zoe Kravitz.
Pete Davidson, Anna Sawai, and Rhenzy Feliz round out the cast. The screenplay comes from “Hunters” writer Mark Bianculli.
Leitch, a stunt coordinator turned filmmaker, is an interesting case study. He specializes in action and, for the most part, has enjoyed a successful career directing high-octane films such as “John Wick,” “Atomic Blonde,” “Deadpool 2,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” and “Bullet Train.”
Leitch most recently helmed 2024’s “The Fall Guy,” starring Ryan Gosling, which earned strong reviews despite disappointing at the box office. Before joining “How to Rob A Bank,” he had been slated to direct “Jurassic World Rebirth,” but he abruptly exited the project due to “creative differences,” leaving Universal scrambling for a replacement. That replacement ultimately turned out to be Gareth Edwards.
Leitch recently wrapped the meta action-comedy “Jason Statham Stole My Bike,” starring—who else?—Jason Statham. Black Bear is backing the film, which is set for release in August 2027.
