The Daniels’ New Film Casts Five Leads Alongside Matt Damon

June 24, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Okay, so Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan’s upcoming film might star Matt Damon, Sandra Oh and Charles Melton, but as previously reported, they are not the actual leads of the film.

Here’s Deadline reporting that the five leads, all in their 20s, who will get “equal footing” to Damon, have been cast: Sean Kaufman (”The Summer I Turned Pretty”), Silvia Dionicio (”Task”), Jackson Kelly (”Imperfect Women”), Kerrice Brooks (”My Old Ass”), and Thalia Dudek (”Better Man”).

Although plot details remain under wraps, at least officially, the upcoming untitled film is essentially a “superhero tentpole with global warming as the villain.” The story reportedly jumps between two timelines — one set in the 1980s and the other in the present day — with the ’80s storyline centered on a group of youngsters. Damon and Oh reportedly play the parents of one of the teens.

This is a major swing for The Daniels; the film reportedly carries a $150M budget and is scheduled to hit theaters on November 19, 2027. The duo hasn’t released a film since their 2022 Best Picture Oscar winner, “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”
