007 Surprise! Robert Pattinson Screen Tested for James Bond

November 6, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

So about those two mystery actors. We now know who they are, and one of them I had mentioned in my previous article.

Yep, Robert Pattinson has screen tested to play James Bond, according to "multiple sources" who spoke to THR. He joins the already-reported trio of Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O'Connor, with the tests reportedly taking place in London the weekend of October 24.

The other name now floating around? Nicholas Hoult, which is kind of hilarious given that Hoult was the runner-up to Pattinson for Batman all those years ago. These two just keep crossing paths.

Everybody assumed Amazon would go with a relative unknown, or at least someone without a massive franchise strapped to his back. That was the conventional wisdom. Pattinson is the opposite of that. He's Batman. He's one of the most interesting movie stars of his generation. And he's in London shooting "The Batman Part II," which, conveniently, is exactly where these screen tests have been happening.

Word is that while "The Batman Part II" paused production due to Matt Reeves' hiatus, Pattinson was asked by his good friend Denis Villeneuve to come over for a screen test. Villeneuve also just made "Dune: Part 3" with Pattinson, so this all checks out.

Looking back at "Tenet," it now basically seems like Nolan was handing Pattinson a Bond audition tape in 2020.

These are unprecedented times for Bond. No more Barbara Broccoli. Amazon is rewriting the rules. And now we have Robert Pattinson as potentially the next James Bond.

Amazon, unsurprisingly, isn't commenting.
