James Bond: Two Mystery Stars Secretly Tested For 007, Per THR

November 6, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Deadline’s Justin Kroll has chimed in about the two mystery actors: “One stars in a 2026 Amazon pic and another likes to wear a mask.”

EARLIER: We're heading into the weekend, and there's still no word from Amazon MGM on who'll be the next James Bond. Not a peep.

Meanwhile, the speculation keeps coming. This week, two different UK tabloids named two different actors, Jack Lowden and Josh O'Connor, as the chosen one. That follows last week's claim that Callum Turner had been cast as 007, which tells you just how in the dark everybody is.

Here's another twist. According to THR's Borys Kit, two mystery actors have tested for the role, not one, as was initially believed. And these aren't up-and-comers. His sources describe both as notable, established names who are better known than the young pack that has dominated the betting odds for the past year.

Who might these two mystery thespians be? I bet one of them is Jacob Elordi. And what if the other is Robert Pattinson, a name widely assumed to be out of the running because of his star power? Personally, I don't think he'd be a good fit, and I'd much rather he keep starring in director-driven films, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

For a long time, the assumption was that Denis Villeneuve and the producers would go young and relatively unknown, casting someone they could build a decade-long run around. Testing two proven actors suggests they wouldn't mind a big name.

An announcement can't be far off. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, I want to hear from you. I’ve opened a poll so readers can choose who they want as the next 007. Your options: Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor, Jack Lowden, Jack Barton, Jacob Elordi, Robert Pattinson, Harris Dickinson and Joe Alwyn. Cast your vote. Is the actual next Bond even on this list?
