Things are heating up around “Babygirl” director Halina Reijn’s next film, which she has already written and recently set up at A24. The project is — no surprise— being described as a sexually charged drama.
We already knew that Gracie Abrams would make her acting debut in Reijn’s “Please,” which is expected to shoot this year. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say it is a “period female drama” and a “continuation of the edgy romance genre” that Reijn explored in “Babygirl.”
More casting news: Connor Storrie — who has quickly become one of the industry’s rising names following his breakout role in “Heated Rivalry” — has joined the cast of “Please.” Also joining are the ever-reliable Tom Burke (“Black Bag”) and David Jonsson (“Alien: Romulus”).
Reijn has directed three features to date: “Instinct,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” and “Babygirl,” the latter of which premiered to considerable buzz at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where Nicole Kidman won the Best Actress prize.
