‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ First Trailer Teases New York Destruction as Monster Heads for the Statue of Liberty

Here’s the first trailer for “Godzilla Minus Zero,” which is set to hit theaters on November 6 via Toho and GKids. That date is just three days after its premiere in Japan.

Takashi Yamazaki is returning to direct and will again handle writing and visual effects duties. The story takes place two years after ‘Minus One,’ and tackles the survivors from the kaiju’s last attack. In the final moments, we can see Godzilla striding toward the Statue of Liberty, turning his attention to New York City.

“Godzilla Minus One,” released in late 2023, was the 37th film in the franchise and Toho’s 33rd Godzilla film. Made on a $15 million budget, the film earned $115 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film of all time. It also became the first non-English-language film to win the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Hollywood fell for ‘Minus One.’ Guillermo Del Toro gushed over it, writing that it’s one of the “Top 3 Godzilla films of all time (actually top two).” It wasn’t just Guillermo who praised — other filmmakers who professed their love for the film included Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Christopher Nolan.
