Sean Baker to Direct ‘Ti Amo!’ for Warner Bros Indie Label, Sets 2027 Release

April 14, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Some big news out of CinemaCon: Warner Bros. has launched an indie label, Warner Bros. Clockwork, and Sean Baker is set to direct its debut film, “Ti Amo!”, which is now slated for a 2027 release. A summer production start is expected.

What a great filmmaker to kick off an indie label. Baker is coming off his Oscar triumph with “Anora,” and had originally stated that he was refusing major studio offers for his next film; this technically adheres to those rules.

“Ti Amo!” must be the film Baker recently hinted was set in Italy and was an ode to ’60s and ’70s Italian sex comedies. It apparently has Italian actress Vera Gemma as part of the cast, who is best known for her performance in “Vera” and for her acclaimed turn in “Scarlet Flower.”

Baker stated that the film would “lean into comedy a little bit more,” adding, “so, it might be a little bit more of an overtly humorous movie.”

So, we’re getting another Sean Baker film coming our way very soon — no doubt with Cannes 2027 potential. “Anora” was his first Oscar-winning addition to a filmography that already included acclaimed works like “Tangerine,” “The Florida Project,” and “Red Rocket.”
