A small batch of news coming down the wire on this quiet Friday. John Hannah is set to return to ‘The Mummy’ franchise, reuniting with co-stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in a new instalment from Universal Pictures.
Hannah, who appeared in all three original films as the roguish and often unreliable Jonathan Carnahan, the treasure-hunting brother of Weisz’s character, became a fan favorite for his comic relief.
Fans of the franchise must be elated with Hannah’s return as it signals a strong connection to the original trilogy, with filming planned for London and Morocco in fall 2026 ahead of a May 19, 2028 release.
Lars Von Trier is working on the 15th—and likely final—film of his career, “After,” and according to his producer, Peter Aalbæk Jensen, the screenplay is supposed to be completed this month
