Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming action-thriller film “Apex,” which stars Charlize Theron as a grieving woman fighting for her survival in the Australian wilderness — the predator is played by Taron Egerton.
When you’re not too sure what to make of a film’s potential, then just check who the director is — in this case it’s Baltasar Kormákur, a journeyman of sorts, failed by the Hollywood studio system (“Adrift,” “Everest,” “2 Guns,” “Contraband”), but whose last film (“Touch”) brought him back to his native Iceland, to much acclaim.
Theron’s most recent screen credit was another Netflix action film, “The Old Guard 2.” The verdict is still out on “Apex,” written by Jeremy Robbins, who also penned “The Purge” TV series, but, no surprise, it will skip theaters and premiere globally on Netflix on April 24.
