Matt Reeves is expected to begin production on “The Batman: Part II” roughly six weeks from now. Nearly all of the major roles have been cast, with one exception: Christopher Dent, the father of Harvey Dent.
Brad Pitt was initially offered the role but ultimately passed due to scheduling conflicts. Now, Jeff Sneider reports on The Hot Mic podcast that recent Oscar nominee Stellan Skarsgård (“Sentimental Value”) has also declined the part. As a result, the search to cast Christopher Dent continues.
Reeves has already cast Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, with Scarlett Johansson set to play his wife. These two represent the most significant new additions to the sequel, which is otherwise expected to bring back most of the original cast, excluding Zoë Kravitz.
The ensemble is shaping up to quite nicely, loaded with talented, and featuring Johansson, Stan, Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Barry Keoghan. Skarsgård would have certainly been a great addition. Regardless, the search goes on.
