Here's one to keep an eye on. “Clang,” written by Paul Schrader, a father/son murder mystery about dementia, with Kurt Russell starring, and Mark Pellington directing.
News of the project, which went unannounced, until now, can be found on Pellington’s official website. Russell’s casting was confirmed to me by one of his reps. There’s no production start date just yet as Pellington is currently editing his next film.
Schrader had previously mentioned “Clang” as one of the projects he was working on, and many of us assumed he'd be directing. That's no longer the case. Pellington, the director of “Arlington Road,” has now taken the reins, with Schrader staying on as writer.
Pellington, whose other well-known film is “The Mothman Prophecies,”recently wrapped “Lone Wolf,” a paranoid conspiracy thriller starring Bryan Cranston, Lily Gladstone, O'Shea Jackson Jr. and Chet Hanks. It’s currently in post-production, and set to hit theaters in 2026.
Tom Cruise, 64, is one of the last remaining old-school movie stars, and with “Digger” now in theatres, many outlets have been ranking his greatest performances.
