UPDATE: Jeff Sneider is insinuating Stan is going to portray Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
EARLIER: After landing Scarlett Johansson, Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” has added another Oscar nominee to its ever-evolving cast.
Sources tell Deadline that Sebastian Stan is in talks to join the highly anticipated sequel in an as-yet-unknown role. Furthermore, Variety is reporting that Barry Keoghan’s Joker is expected to return for the sequel.
Stan, formerly Bucky Barnes in the MCU, is coming off his Oscar-nominated turn as Donald Trump in “The Apprentice” and has several auteur-driven films in the works, including new projects with Radu Jude, Cristian Mungiu, Justin Kurzel, and Felipe Gálvez.
“The Batman: Part Two” is expected to begin production in early 2026. So far, only Robert Pattinson, Johansson, and Stan have been confirmed for roles in the sequel, and little is known about the story that will be told.
According to The InSneider’s sources, the plot will involve Harvey Dent (Two-Face), his wife, and a father figure. Doctor Arkham is also said to appear in the film, though in a smaller role. Johansson will reportedly be playing Mrs. Dent, also known as Gilda Gold. Brad Pitt was reportedly sought for the role of Dent’s alcoholic father, Christopher Dent; however, Pitt was unable to fit the role into his schedule due to a conflicting commitment.
Some actors rumored to return for the sequel include Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Zoë Kravitz will not be reprising her role as Catwoman.
Rumor has it that Reeves is crafting a Halloween-themed film, and there’s no better time to release it than October 2027, when “The Batman: Part II” is set to hit theaters via Warner Bros.
