David Fincher’s Netflix follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is still shrouded in some secrecy.
We know Brad Pitt is back as Cliff Booth. We also know that Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan have signed on in as-yet-unknown roles. However, now it looks like another familiar face will return—courtesy of a podcast slip-up.
Timothy Olyphant, who played James Stacy in the 2019 original, might have just outed himself as part of the cast for the sequel, reportedly titled “The Adventures of Cliff Booth.” The reveal came during a chat on the Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend podcast, when Conan brought up the project. Olyphant gave a casual “Yep” before glancing at co-host Matt Gourley and mouthing, “I’m in it.”
Co-host Sona Movsesian immediately pointed out the potential blunder, to which Olyphant sheepishly admitted, “That camera just caught whatever you did.”
The team asked if he wanted to cut the revelation from the final episode. Olyphant hesitated—“I don’t know… let’s see”—before hedging that he’s “not 100% certain” but “to my understanding, I’m in it.”
For the record, Olyphant claims he only found out a few weeks ago and still hasn’t gotten the full confirmation. But if the man’s already mouthing it on camera, it’s probably safe to bet he’ll be back.
Fincher’s Adventures of Cliff Booth will pick up with Pitt’s Zen stuntman at the center of the story, while the rest of the returning cast, and the exact shape of the plot, remains a closely guarded secret. Here’s the full cast:
