‘Superman’ Ticket Presales Start; New Trailer Drops — $140M Opening Weekend?

June 11, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

There’s no bigger movie coming out this summer than James Gunn’s “Superman.” None. Maybe “Jurassic World Rebirth” can contend with it, but the peak of that franchise might have already passed.

With that said, “Superman” ticket presales started today, and tracking is starting to adjust the numbers. So far? It’s looking really good for Gunn’s movie, and internally a $140M domestic opening weekend is now being projected.

The demand has been so high that Fandango’s site momentarily crashed. One look at the seating charts at various different theatrical locations, and you notice not many seats, if any, being made available on opening night.

UPDATE: According to Fandango, the “early access” screenings have already broken records, becoming the ticketing platform’s top first-day advance ticket seller of 2025.

Of course, whether this film proves to be a major success will have to do with word of mouth. Has Gunn delivered a good film? That’s all audiences want. Warner Bros has been going to church every day, praying for success.

To mark the start of presales, a new trailer for “Superman” has been released, showcasing fresh footage, including our first glimpse of Superman using his heat vision. There’s less Krypto in this preview, but sources say the superdog still plays a significant role in the film.

What do you all think? Are you anticipating Gunn’s take on “Superman”? Has the new trailer relieved any doubts you might have had about the film? Having spoken to several people who’ve seen a cut, I’m still on the fence. Hopefully, what I’ve heard was just an outlier — because it’s been over 40 years since we’ve had a genuinely great Superman movie, and we’re long overdue.

“Superman” is set to hit theaters on July 11.
