Nia DaCosta's ‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' Sets January 2026 Release

December 19, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Things are really revving up when it comes to Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s “28 Years Later” trilogy. The first one has already set up a June 2025 release, and now we have the second one dated.

Nia DaCosta’s “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple” has been dated for January 16, 2026 release via Sony. That’s a little less than 8 months after the first one comes out. No word yet on the official cast, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson has confirmed his presence for this one.

Yes, DaCosta is the same filmmaker responsible for the gargantuan bomb that was “The Marvels.” DaCosta’s other credits include the 2018 indie “Little Woods” and 2021’s “Candyman” remake. She’s also already shot “Hedda,” due for release next year.

In January, as part of a heated bidding war, Sony landed the rights to the ‘28 Years’ trilogy and gave each film a $60M budget. Still no word on when the third chapter will be shot, and there’s still no director attached to that one. All three films were written by Alex Garland.
