Jessica Chastain Set to Star in Another Film From Filmmaker Michel Franco

May 31, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Michel Franco already has a film titled “Memory,” with Jessica Chastain, his American debut, potentially set for a Venice world premiere.

Now Chastain is spilling the beans that she is soon going to make another film with Franco.

I love Michel Franco, a filmmaking from Mexico, I did a film with him last year and I’m going to do another one with him that he recently wrote.

Production on “Memory” wrapped in New York last summer. The plot is being kept under wraps, but it is said to revolve around a “New York City staycation.”

If you haven’t seen his last one, “Sundown,” then please do. It was a great film from 2021, maybe Franco’s best. It featured not just excellent, Haneke-esque direction, but also a career-peak performance from Tim Roth.

Franco is coming off the one-two punch of “New Order” and “Sundown,” which have clearly upped his stock. Belgian cinematographer Yves Cape, and Franco regular, shot “Memory.”

Franco trying to break into American cinema is major news. His Haneke-style nihilism and gloomy outlook on humanity seems to have struck a chord with US producers.
