Marvel is “Moving Away” From Jonathan Majors

November 13, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

As Jonathan Majors’ legal situation worsens, the folks over at Disney and Marvel seem to have already made the decision to get rid of him.

“MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios” author Joanna Robinson was on The Ringer's House of R podcast and shared an update on where things stand with “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”:

I heard from someone recently...the screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who wrote Quantumania, was supposed to write The Kang Dynasty...anyway, it's confirmed. I had it confirmed to me he's no longer working for Marvel," she reveals. "I asked the person why, and they said the reason why is he was all wrapped up in this Kang storyline and they are likely going to be moving away from that.

Majors was supposed to play Kang the Conqueror, the main villain of the next ‘Avengers’ movies and a character who was supposed to be central in connecting all the stories together.

Kang has already appeared in both the first season of “Loki” and, more recently, in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” He was supposed to appear in, at least, five additional projects. That’s all been scrapped.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige bet all his cards on Majors and seems to have lost. Phase five of the MCU was supposed to end with two big Avengers instalments, set for release in 2025 and 2026 — with Majors playing the central antagonist in both of those movies. Now, it looks as though they will be retiring the entire timeline to fit in another villain.

Majors was one of the industry’s rising stars and the most exciting recent addition to the MCU. I hope you will have a chance to one day see his incredible performance in the now-shelved indie, “Magazine Dreams.”

Majors is accused of domestic abuse and has been charged with multiple counts of assault and harassment. The matter isn’t going anywhere. The Southern District of New York are very much going to pursue this case and it’ll take months, if not more than a year, before the process concludes.

To make matters worse, last month, at a court date, another bombshell was brought up against Majors — this one, supposedly, evidence of an incident report concerning another ex-girlfriend of his. Now, London police is involved in this fiasco.
