Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range. The “B-“ CinemaScore only makes the situation worse. Not even word of mouth will save this.
Focus will lose money. They paid $11M for domestic rights and spent millions more on P&A. And honestly? I can't blame them for trying the last-minute Robin Hood angle. They saw tracking was way off, panicked and pulled a hail mary — even though Robin Hood in 2026 isn’t something that would lure an audience.
That said, the Robin Hood angle was technically not a lie. Greengrass has said outright that the ending of his film sets up the outlaw's story. If you can believe it, there was a Robin Hood movie waiting on the other side of this one. Based on these numbers, we're never getting it.
