Concerning news this morning regarding one of the more highly anticipated Cannes 2022 titles.
Park Chan-wook’s ‘Decision to Leave’ has been bought by MUBI. Yes, the film many were already declaring as the “Palme Chan-wook” has been bought by the globally curated film streaming platform.
This is by far the biggest title acquisition in MUBI’s short history, but it is quite concerning that none of the big kahunas like Sony Pictures Classic or Amazon went for Park’s film. You would think the newest film by the director of “OldBoy” and “The Handmaiden” would be a hotter commodity.
A Fall 2022 release, in multiple territories including the US and UK, is already in the works for the film.
“Spider Man: Brand New Day” with the highest 10-day domestic run ever. Through tomorrow, the US total will be $653M, and $1.7 billion worldwide. Talk about a blockbuster—this is the definition of one.
