Jason Reitman will direct a new Ghostbusters movie that’s a direct continuation of the 1984 original

Director Jason Reitman will direct and co-write a new Ghostbusters movie set in the original universe. The production is targeted to start this year with a planned Summer 2020 release date. Reitman told  Entertainment Weekly that the new movie will ignore the 2016 reboot directed by Paul Feig, and will be a direct continuation of the 1984 original.

Jason Reitman's already underrated ‘The Front Runner' hits theaters today

You can read my thoughts on Jason Reitman's "The Front Runner" here, but, suffice to say, I am surprised by the general lack of enthusiasm for this forcefully entertaining and relevant picture, which is being released today. The reviews have been mild, a 64% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and a 60 on Metacritic, huh?! Did we watch the same movie?

There were a ton of Oscar Contenders that had their premieres at the Telluride Film Festival and, yet, I feel like this year's Toronto International Film Festival delivered better quality premieres.

Just look at the subdued receptions films like "Boy Erased," "Destroyer," "White Boy Rick," "Trial By Fire," "The White Crown," and even two of the more well-received titles, "Can You Ever Forgive Me" and "First Man" received at TIFF.
