Scorsese and DiCaprio will shoot "Killers of the Flower Moon" late next year

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have two projects in the works, “The Devil in the White City” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The latter is officially going into production after Scorsese is done editing his upcoming gangster drama "The Irishman," with long-time collaborator/editor Thelma Schoonmaker.

"Killers of the Flower Moon" is a "crime drama set in 1920s Oklahoma, where the Osage Nation discover oil under their land, only to find themselves being murdered, one by one. As the death toll rose, the newly created FBI takes up the case and unravels a chilling conspiracy and one of the most monstrous crimes in American history."

Based on the David Grann's book, the film will be Scorsese and DiCaprio's sixth collaboration together, after "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator," "The Departed," "Shutter Island,"and "The Wolf of Wall Street."

In a just-released statement, Scorsese wrote "When I read David Grann’s book, I immediately started seeing it—the people, the settings, the action — and I knew that I had to make it into a movie. I’m so excited to be working with [screenwriter] Eric Roth and reuniting with Leo DiCaprio to bring this truly unsettling American story to the screen," he added.

Meanwhile, "The Irishman" starring Rober De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci will be distributed by Netflix later next year.
