So, this makes it official: Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Digger” will be skipping the fall festivals and instead have its world premiere at the Royal Film Performance in London’s Leicester Square on September 22.
Tom Cruise stars in the film as the most powerful man in the world, embarking on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything. Don’t let anyone ruin the big twist of this film — it completely upends the entire story.
Starring alongside Cruise are Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Academy Award nominee Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons. Warner Bros. told the trades the budget was $130M. Meanwhile, the trailer has been stuck in the 4M-view range on YouTube for a couple of weeks now.
Warner Bros. Pictures will release “Digger” on October 2, 2026. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, as it’s not just a potential Oscar player, but a huge gamble for Warner Bros., who are coming off the underperformance of high-budget titles “The Bride,” “Supergirl,” and “The End of Oak Street.”
Farhadi’s latest film, “Parallel Tales,” which got trounced by critics at Cannes and still has no U.S. distributor, starred Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira and Vincent Cassel.
