Sebastian Stan just starred in Cristian Mungiu’s Palme d’Or winner “Fjord,” where he’s almost unrecognizable, with a bald head and scruffy beard.
He previously mentioned that he’ll be headed to London for Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II, where he’ll play “many roles in this one.” Production on the film has been ongoing for a few months now.
Of course, some theorized that the “many roles” was in reference to the character Harvey Dent, who is initially a Gotham D.A. before eventually being disfigured by acid thrown in his face, scarring the left side and turning him into Two-Face.
Stan has now confirmed (via Journal du Dimanche) that’s the role he’s playing.
I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself,” he says of taking on Two-Face. He’s working with the hair and makeup teams, who have “devised how his disfigurement will look.
Stan, formerly Bucky Barnes in the MCU, was Oscar-nominated for his portrayal of Donald Trump in “The Apprentice” and has several auteur-driven films in the works, including new projects with Radu Jude, Justin Kurzel, and Felipe Gálvez. That said, his Bucky is back in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which, as you’ll recall, had an incomplete script, written as it went, during the shoot.
In that same interview, Stan goes one step further by saying there was actually no script when he was shooting “Avengers: Doomsday.”
“We didn’t have a script. We were just shooting scattered scenes. It’s a different way of working, continuous, constantly evolving.”
Yes, ‘Doomsday’ was shot without a finalized script. It was being written as production rolled on. The screenplay was still under development on set, with daily rewrites and updates in progress. The full cast was not even locked. How does that work exactly?
Marvel boss Kevin Feige described this as part of Marvel’s “creative process,” referring to the ongoing script as “plus-ing,” which is “happening every day,” and affirming that rewriting during filming has been a regular feature of their production model.
“Avengers: Doomsday” releases December 18, 2027. “The Batman: Part II” is expected to hit theaters on February 18, 2028.
Whenever Diesel claims something about this film, eyebrows need to be raised. Diesel has repeatedly suggested over the past few years that another “Fast & Furious” film was close to shooting.
