Vin Diesel is at it again.
On Saturday, he shared an update, on ‘Fast 11,’ officially titled “Fast Forever,” which is scheduled to premiere on March 17, 2028, but we have our doubts about that date.
“You have no idea… When March 17th 2028 comes… I just read the ‘Fast Forever’ script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying.”
Best script he’s read in decades? Guy must not read many scripts — and let me guess: it all ends with a big family barbecue where the whole cast is gathered together as the camera slowly rises to the clouds.
Over the last 20 years, the scripts Diesel has actually read, since he also starred in these movies, include those for seven ‘Fast & Furious’ films, “Riddick,” “The Last Witch Hunter,” “XXX: Return of Xander Cage,” “Bloodshot,” and, of course, “Babylon A.D.,” where he played Hugo Cornelius Toorop. He also voiced Groot in the MCU.
“Fast Forever,” intended to be the franchise’s final movie, is facing major behind-the-scenes problems despite Universal currently targeting a 2028 release. The film is simply too expensive to make at its current scale, with Universal and Diesel trying to find a way to reduce costs without diminishing the scope audiences expect from the franchise.
The project reportedly still has several obstacles to overcome. The screenplay is still being worked on, with Michael Lesslie the latest writer attached, while Louis Leterrier is expected—but not officially confirmed—to return as director.
In short, the movie is still far from being ready, and budget and creative issues need to be resolved before it can properly move forward.
