The cast of Brady Corbet's “The Origin of the World” just keeps getting bigger. The latest name: Amanda Seyfried, who was spotted on set in Lisbon this week as production on the ‘Brutalist’ follow-up continues.
Seyfried joins an ensemble that already includes Selena Gomez, Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Lily McInerny, Joe Alwyn and Taylor Russell. Corbet has made no secret that his film will be rated NC-17 (or, in his own words, "X") and that it might run four hours.
The reunion makes a lot of sense. Seyfried just came off “The Testament of Ann Lee,” which, Corbet’s partner, Mona Fastvold directed and co-wrote with him. Corbet also served as second unit director on that film. That he would want her in his own film was only a matter of time.
Seyfried has been very busy. She's coming off “You Can See Everything,” which has become the talk of the fall, with some critics now pushing for a Supporting Actress nomination. That followed “The Testament of Ann Lee” and “The Housemaid,” the Sydney Sweeney thriller that grossed over $400M worldwide. She recently wrapped Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical “Octet,” and Tim Blake Nelson's prison thriller “The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd,” which premiered at TIFF, is still to come. She voices Cinderella in Netflix's “Steps,” out November 20. She also just signed on to star opposite Sharon Stone and Ramy Youssef in “Martha & Muhammad,” Youssef's A24 directorial debut, and a “Jennifer's Body” sequel is also on her slate.
The studio has unveiled "The Angel Promise," a sweeping new content policy that bans on-screen sex, nudity, F-words and any misuse of God's name in its films.
