Elon Musk Wants to Give Mel Gibson $100M to Make “Historically Accurate” Version of ‘The Odyssey’

July 22, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is a major success, having earned a ridiculous $20M on Tuesday, but Elon Musk, who previously said that “Nolan has lost his integrity,” is not stopping his barrage against the film.

Musk just showed off an AI-created “Odyssey” clip, claiming that “Before this year ends, Grok [AI] Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.”

Did Musk not get the memo? Yesterday, it was announced that an AI-created “Odyssey” has been greenlit by England-raised Millennial engineer Ash Koosha — the same guy who just premiered the first-ever fully AI-generated film (“Dreams of Violet”) at a major festival, Tribeca.

More: Musk also seems very open to the idea of giving Mel Gibson $100M to make his own “Odyssey,” with “historically accurate ships, armour, weapons, and casting, with all dialogue taken straight from the original poem and delivered in Homeric Greek.”

Of course, we don’t need yet another version of Homer’s poem, but I’ll admit that Gibson — director of “Braveheart,” “Apocalypto,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” and “The Passion of the Christ” — is kind of a perfect fit to make such an epic.

Will any of this happen? A Mel Gibson ‘Odyssey’? Musk is a trillionaire — what’s $100M to him? Especially if it means sabotaging Nolan any way he can.

I doubt Gibson would accept the offer — he’s currently in an intense post-production process, molding his “Resurrection of the Christ” movies, respectively set for 2027 and 2028 releases. Those two movies will no doubt reignite the culture wars when released.
