Danny Glover, 79, is telling People magazine he has Alzheimer’s disease. He was diagnosed in 2022, around the time he was given a Lifetime Achievement Oscar.
Meanwhile, since then, Mel Gibson has been teasing “Lethal Weapon 5” with Glover to the media. Did he know about Glover’s diagnosis?
“I’m still not accepting in my mind all parts of it,” he tells People. “There are moments that you keep remembering that validate the fact that you can remember stuff. And there are moments I’ll never forget.”
A look at his filmography shows that Glover hasn’t starred in any movie since 2022. He did lend his voice to Dan Trachtenberg’s animated “Predator: Killer of Killers” and had a very small cameo in the TV movie “The Naughty Nine” (2023).
Glover broke out on Broadway in 1982, starring in Athol Fugard’s “Master Harold and the Boys,” a role he reprised in 2003. He went on to star in many notable works, including four “Lethal Weapon” movies, “Saw,” “Angels in the Outfield,” “Shooter,” “Grand Canyon,” “Silverado,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” and his best work, as the charismatic drifter in Charles Burnett’s “To Sleep with Anger.”
Glover tells Holt that his favorite movie was Robert Benton’s “Places in the Heart,” starring Sally Field.
