Glen Powell to Star in AI Erotic Thriller ‘Homewreckers,’ With Craig Gillespie Directing

June 23, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

There he is again: Glen Powell. You just can’t escape him. According to Deadline, Powell is set to star in “Homewreckers,” with Craig Gillespie attached to direct.

This is yet another erotic thriller recently greenlit by a major Hollywood studio. How many does that make now? Five in the last year?

The film is being described as a cross between an Adrian Lyne thriller such as “Unfaithful” and Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina.” “Homewreckers” is currently being shopped around to studios.

The search is also underway for Powell’s female co-star. Perhaps this will be the project that reunites him with Sydney Sweeney or Adria Arjona.

“Homewreckers” revolves around Beth and Henry (Powell), a struggling couple whose marriage—strained by suspicion, emotional distance, and regret—begins to unravel. As Henry becomes consumed by the idea that Beth is seeing someone else, she is offered a surreal opportunity to rekindle her romance with a younger version of Henry through advanced AI technology.

Powell, 37, is seemingly everywhere these days. His success in “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Anyone But You,” “Hit Man,” and “Twisters” has opened countless doors for him. He was recently seen in the Hulu series “Chad Powers” and, truth be told, is coming off two commercial disappointments, “The Running Man” and “How to Make a Killing,” with a third potential misfire on the horizon in J.J. Abrams’ fall release, “The Great Beyond.”

As for Gillespie, he has “Supergirl” arriving in theaters this Friday and is best known for his highly stylized work on “I, Tonya,” “Lars and the Real Girl,” “Dumb Money,” and “Cruella.”
