Here’s Variety reporting that “24 Jump Street” is in the works with Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube set to return for the third instalment in the comedy franchise. I mean, sure, why not?
UPDATE: The latest is that Rodney Rothman (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”) will direct the film and wrote the script with Hill and Meghan Malloy. So, no Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two films, the hilarious “21 Jump Street” (2012) and the meta-centric “22 Jump Street” (2014). The duo will only be producing.
The chemistry between Hill and Tatum is what sells these movies. The first installment grossed over $200M worldwide. The sequel earned $331M.
The third installment has been in development at Sony since 2016, but for various reasons, it never happened. That project was “23 Jump Street,” which Tatum described as “the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie,” and it was supposed to be a crossover with “Men in Black.”
