Here’s DanielRPK, posting a casting call for Michael Mann’s “Heat 2,” seeking a young Danny Trejo, which confirms a September 2026 to March 2027 shooting Schedule. That’s a whole lot of filming, and based on reports, the cast is still being fine tuned as we speak.
That’ll be seven months of production for Mann’s upcoming epic, which is supposed to star Leonardo DiCaprio, Christians Bale, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke — many others still need to be announced. Where’s Adam Driver? He’s hinted at his participation in interviews.
Mann recently confirmed that the globe-trotting production will take him to Los Angeles, Chicago, Paraguay, and Singapore. The L.A. shoot alone will be 77 days. That’s quite the arduous shoot for Mann, 83, and one can surmise this might be the last big blockbuster of his career.
Mann has spent the last few years carefully laying the groundwork for “Heat 2,” a dual prequel-sequel hybrid based on his 2022 novel co-written with Meg Gardiner. The book charts the early days of Neil McCauley (played by Robert De Niro in the original) and Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), while also following Hanna’s hunt for a new threat in the aftermath of the original film’s climactic shootout.
